PRESS STATEMENT
LIFE CHAIN SUNDAY 3
OCTOBER, 2010
The annual Life Chain Sunday
will be commemorated in Durban, Umhlanga Rocks, on 3 October. Most pro-life movements,
within many churches and organisations, will be participating in this international event
in
cities across South Africa. Other cities where the Life Chains will take place, are
Bloemfontein, Pretoria, Cape Town, East London and Port Elizabeth.
Venue for the Durban Life Chain, Sunday 3 October from 14:00 to 16:00, from the M41
Bridge, to the corner of Umhlanga Rocks Drive and Centenary Boulevard. The meeting place
is the Chris Saunders Park in Centenary Boulevard.
The Life Chain (where pro-lifers stand with posters in a "chain" about 3 metres
apart) is in accordance with International Life Chain Sunday in the USA and Canada where
the event is set to take place in 1500
cities on 3 October. Their emphasis is to "urge churches across the U.S., Canada and
beyond to end its abandonment of pre-born humanity".
South Africa legalised abortion on demand in 1997. Estimates are that close to a million
unborn babies have died since then.
Despite legalisation "back-street abortions" have risen year by year. Most
health professionals want nothing to do with abortion. We salute those who have been
willing to suffer intimidation and loss of employment rather than participate in the
murder of pre-born babies.
The time will come when all of humankind will give account to God. He who gives life has
commanded everyone: "Thou shalt not murder".
